Privacy & Cookies

Cookies we use

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. We use as few as we can. You can change your choice at any time using the link, which also appears in the footer of every page.

Cookie Purpose Lasts Needs consent
PHPSESSID Keeps our booking and contact forms secure. It carries the token that proves a submission came from you and not from another site, remembers whether your message sent, and limits how often a form can be submitted. It contains no information about you and is not used for tracking. Until you close your browser No — the forms do not work without it
ftco_consent Remembers the cookie choice you made on this banner, so we stop asking. 1 year No — it only stores your choice
Google Analytics Tells us which pages people find useful so we can improve them. Not currently in use on this site. Up to 2 years Yes — off unless you turn it on
Google Maps Shows the map on our contact page. Google sets its own cookies when the map loads. If you leave this off we show our address and a plain link instead, and Google is never contacted. Not currently in use on this site. Set by Google Yes — off unless you turn it on

What we collect when you contact us

When you send a booking request, an enquiry, a newsletter signup or a blog comment, we store what you typed into the form. Depending on the form that is your name, phone number, email address, the service you asked about, your preferred date, and your message.

We also record the date and time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string alongside it. Those last two help us identify automated spam.

This is stored on our own server and, where we have set it up, emailed to our office so we can reply. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing.

Third parties this site contacts

Some parts of the page are loaded from other companies' servers. When that happens, your browser tells them your IP address.

  • Google Fonts — the site's typeface. Loaded on every page.
  • Font Awesome (via BootstrapCDN) — the icons. Loaded on every page.
  • Google Maps — the contact page map. Only if you allow external content.
  • WhatsApp — only if you tap the WhatsApp button, which opens WhatsApp itself.

The first two are needed for the site to look right and are not used to track you, but we would rather say plainly that they are there.

To be completed before launch

The sections below need answers that only 254 Cleaners can give. They are shown here rather than hidden so this page is not published while still incomplete.

  • Who controls this data — the registered company name, physical address and registration number.
  • How long we keep it — a retention period for enquiries, bookings and newsletter subscribers.
  • Your rights — how to ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted, and how quickly we respond.
  • Data Protection Act 2019 — whether 254 Cleaners is registered with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, and the contact details of the data protection officer if one is appointed.
  • Complaints — how to raise a concern with us, and the right to complain to the ODPC.

This is a legal document. Have someone qualified check it before the site goes live.
